Selva Adentro (2025) is a commissioned public artwork by MTA Arts & Design, realized in printed glass and gold foil and fabricated in collaboration with Tom Patti. Measuring 26 × 48 inches and composed of twenty-four glass panels arranged into six distinct scenes, the work draws from my photographic archive to form compositions that are intentionally non-literal and fragmentary, shaped by memory rather than direct representation.
The glass's transparency allows the surrounding city to pass through the imagery, folding the urban landscape into the rainforest. Each panel carries a visual trace of the time I have spent in the Amazon and the lessons learned from the more-than-human world. As these forest memories overlay the cityscape, the work gestures toward a shared ecology, reminding us that the city is not apart from nature, but embedded within a larger system of care, interdependence, and ongoing transformation.
