Amazonia

Amazonia

"Amazonia" is part two of Rainforest Sanctuary, a series of illustrations about the South American tropical rainforests.

I’m fascinated by the immense diversity of animals and plants found in the rainforests, the ancient knowledge of the indigenous and people of African descent who live there. They are highly integrated with nature, working with it, making it part of their lives, respecting it and sharing it. I believe their knowledge can solve many of the main environmental crises happening today if we were to listen better to what they have to say.

These illustrations are my way of keeping these places alive. It's my way of reminding myself and telling others that they are in need of protection.

The animated piece above, created from the print illustrations, was used as an interstitial during "The Green" programming on The Sundance Channel.
