Rainforest Sanctuary 1: El Litoral Pacifico These images are part of a series that evoke the rainforests of Colombia. They are based on my memories of visiting La Ensenada de Utria and imagining all the rest of what I didn't see. The images are collaged using original material and botanical drawings done in the 18th and 19th centuries by different artists during a historical expedition led by Jose Celestino Mutis. This expedition was an effort to study and catalog the flora and fauna of the land and covered over 8000 square kilometers of South America. This series was shown at Replicate Print Shop from December 2004 - January 2005 and were used as prints by fashion designer Julieta Suarez in her recent collection showcased at Colombiatex in 2005.
