Environments
This began as a series of 6 illustration spreads inspired by the artwork of my grandmother Leonor de Arocha. They where first created for Graphic Magazine (Issue 4) and for the Curvy Exhibition 2004 at the Semi Permanent Conference in Sydney, Australia.
Invited to do a show in Kansas City at The Green Door Gallery (September 2004), I used my illustrations as a starting point for my piece and added photographs of my grandmother, her apartment and her artwork. Her enamel paintings were my original inspiration for the project.
Also for the Kansas City show, fashion designer Julieta Suarez and I collaborated to create four blouses. Each one is unique and handmade.

Thanks to Larissa Marquez, Maria Rueda and Amanda Havey for modeling. And to Esteban Sosnitsky lighting my grandmother's portrait.
